"New Generation Arts" Festival in Birmingham

The New Generation Arts (NGA) Festival organized by Birmingham City University, will be held in Birmingham from June 5th to 20th, 2008. Last years festival attracted over 100,000 visitors, introducing 100 of the city’s emerging artists.

The 16 day program will showcase rising artists and top quality graduates. Mai Honda, student at the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design, is one of them. Finalist of the LG HI-MACS® 2008 Design Contest organized by LG Chem Europe, last February, Mai won the hearts of the jury with her superb “MAINO” installation, a very interesting concept, aiming to offer its single user a cosy space to have a coffee hidden from indiscrete looks. More than a seat, almost a sculpture, the “MAINO“, will perfectly suit airports and other places, where we sometimes feel the need for privacy and quietness. “MAINO\" is made of a double sheet of LG HI-MACS®, this way displaying different colours on each side.
